Details

Professors Bucciarelli, MIT, and Drew, Claremont Graduate University have put forward an innovate proposal for leading students along a smoother pathway into engineering via the Liberal Arts. Liberal Studies in Engineering courses, would be drawn from the Humanities and Social Sciences, infused with exemplary engineering content, and be designed and taught with the collaboration of engineering faculty. Mr. Drew will describe the background and goals of their NSF grants. Their current grant has been obtained to study the feasibility of implementation of Liberal Studies in Engineering at a variety of colleges and universities. Mr. Bucciarelli will describe the purposes and design strategy of four modules illustrating "infusion" which have been posted online.
