One hundred and sixty Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets will participate in this year's USD Engineering Program to enhance their science and technology skills July 25-31. During the week-long program, cadets will conduct hands-on experiments using math, science and engineering technology concepts.

NJROTC is a citizenship program that instills service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment in students in United States secondary educational institutions. The NJROTC program teaches cadets self-discipline, self-confidence and leadership skills to help meet life's challenges, and helps prepare them for life after high school, regardless of what career path they decide to take. NSTC oversees more than 600 NJROTC units worldwide. The goal of the summer program is to promote the cadets' interest in post-secondary education, especially in technical subjects, by acclimating them to a college campus environment and exposing them to scientific coursework. The event is organized by the USD Department of Engineering. Contact Rick Olson at for more information.
