Several weeks of educational training in robotics and culminates in a tournament where 6th-12th grade students come together to showcase what they have learned. Activities involving students, teachers and mentors are organized around this program which lets students work together in teams to produce robots they design, program and build from a standard set of components, for competition against contest rules provided by the KISS Institute for Practical Robotics.

KISS Institute for Practical Robotics is a not-for-profit educational organization that uses hands on robotics programs in order to communicate the excitement, knowledge, and practical understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math.  The name is the well-known acronym (Keep It Simple, Stupid), and is a motto students use in designing their robots.

More than 300 teams of middle and high school students, and their teachers, participated in Botball Educational Robotics Program in 2006, including teams from Qatar.
