Nonprofit organizations play a pivotal role in protecting and enhancing the quality of life in our region. While the sector continues to grow, the wicked challenges of the 21st Century are also shifting and, in some cases, growing as well. The need for services continues to outgrow the sector’s ability to meet demand; however, at the end of the day the nonprofit sector always answers the call along with support from the public and private sectors.

In order to be more effective as a sector, the way we must approach the opportunities and challenges of today and tomorrow must shift in order to create true social change. Civic goals such as ending hunger, eradicating poverty, haltering climate change, and ensuring every child receives a high-quality education are going to need strong leadership to come to fruition. In order to properly answer the call for social change, we must all respond with strong community leadership and civic action in order to enhance our region.

Many nonprofits collect data to inform their practice, but what insights can come from collectively pooling that data? The Nonprofit Institute has been studying trends, organizations, and subsectors within the San Diego region for over 15 years and this Summit seeks to share our gained insights, especially those that often do not make it into our reports. Join The Nonprofit Institute and our faculty, staff, and students to connect the dots of our regions vibrant sector.
