This session will walk you through the journey of taking objects around us in real life and bringing them into the virtual space using software created by HP and Google. We will begin with a demonstration of the HP Sprout Pro G2 and show the capabilities and functionality of its 3D and HD 2D cameras in the scanning and importing process. After understanding how to turn the physical objects into digital files, we will learn about the different parts of those files in order to bring them together to upload the object into Google’s virtual object library, Poly. We will conclude the session by demonstrating two of Google’s most popular VR applications. The first, Tilt Brush, is a virtual reality experience where you can create and edit different VR environments by drawing and coloring using the HTC Vive handheld controllers. Within this app we can also add objects to the environments we create by going into the Poly library and importing objects, including your own scanned items! Beyond this, we will also learn to create our own 3D objects within VR using Google’s other application, Blocks. The objects we create within VR can also be uploaded to the Poly library to download and import on your own devices and even print them using a 3D printer!
