The United Front Multicultural Center would like to invite members of the University community to serve as a Rainbow Educator (RE) for the 2018-2019 academic year. The REs are comprised of volunteer students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni. REs facilitate interactive workshops that are dynamic and engaging including videos, role plays, visualizations, and personal stories.

In support of the USD mission, the purpose of the Rainbow Educator program is to build awareness, educate, and engage the USD community around identities such as sexual orientation, gender, race, ethnicity, and class, while promoting inclusion and visibility of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) communities. Rainbow Educators are committed to holding themselves and others accountable for working against all forms of oppression.

We also invite undergraduate students to apply to the Undergraduate Rainbow Educator Leadership Team, which consists of six students, who in addition to serving as Rainbow Educator facilitators, will contribute to the overall program development through one of the four roles: Undergraduate RE Advisory Team Member, Diversity Education Development Coordinator, Public Relations Coordinator, and Assessment Assistant. The six positions will receive a semester stipend.

Please submit an online application at www.sandiego.edu/re by clicking on “Become a Rainbow Educator.” The application process consists of an online application and a 30-minute interview.

The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. If you have any questions, please e-mail us at re@sandiego.edu.
