A Night of Stories for Peace: Journeys is a response to the news, documentaries, newspaper articles and all the media covering topics about immigration which exposes us daily to statistics, countries, tribes and general information that little tell us about deeper facts, such as names, struggles, root causes but also hope and contributions in the receiver countries, that would humanize immigrants individually.

Five speakers of diverse backgrounds will trace us through the ins and outs of their life journeys. Although this event encompasses the theme of immigration, these speakers will show us how the physical act of migrating is only a small part (and often just the beginning) of one’s journey. In this night of storytelling and empathy building, we will come together in community to actively listen to the candid experiences of fellow humans, bringing humanity to immigration. This will be an evening to focus on people and not politics and numbers. This will be a night of empathy building, active listening and replacing political banter with human faces and human stories.

begin quoteOur hope is that this event will be the first of many, building on the tradition of community storytelling as a peacebuilding tool. Empowering individuals to tell their stories; giving them a location and occasion to let their voice be heard.
