Are you the next cyber victim? Join the University of San Diego Center for Cyber Security Engineering and Technology's workshop to ensure your personal and home cyber security plan is up to date!

Here at USD, our ITS department works hard to ensure our work computers and electronic devices are safe from cyber attacks. However, as soon as you leave campus and head home to your personal home computers, tablets and smart phones, you have to still keep up that same diligence so your personal data is not stolen.

Even if computers were made to be perfectly secure (they are not) and internet companies maintained perfect security (they do not), each of us would still be responsible for following "secure" computer practices to protect ourselves as much as we can. In today's world, it's not "if I am involved in a data breach" but rather "when I'm involved in a data breach." Knowing how to mitigate and prevent damage is only possible if securing your devices is done properly. The University of San Diego Center for Cyber Security Engineering and Technology will explain some of the basic good computing practices that everyone should know for their home devices.

The Cyber Security Workshop Includes:

  • How to keep your computer and phone as secure as possible
  • Correct use of passwords and other authentication methods
  • Ways to identify phishing emails and other scams
  • Easy ways to backup your data ... and more
