Passion-Driven Statistics is a project-based, introductory curriculum that that supports students in conducting data-driven research, asking original questions, and communicating methods and results using the language of statistics. The model has been implemented as a statistics course, a research methods course, a data science course, a capstone experience, and a summer research boot camp with students from a wide variety of academic settings. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the curriculum engages students in authentic projects with large, real-world data sets from the very first day!

This 1-day workshop will support instructors in planning an authentic, data-driven curriculum that engages students at many different levels, including complete beginners. The Workshop will include a brief presentation focused on the nuts and bolts of the passion-driven statistics model (passiondrivenstatistics.com) followed by practical experience with the steps that allow students to engage in independent research. Each participant’s experience in the workshop will be individualized to her/his/their own interests, background and needs. Early career participants are especially encouraged to apply. If you are proficient in a specific statistical software platform and have it available on your laptop, you are welcome to use it for the workshop session. For those interested in starting to learn a code-based software platform, we will support you in using SAS in the cloud (free to all and requiring nothing to be downloaded onto your laptop).

Register to secure a spot and receive a pre-workshop survey. $300 stipends are available for those that attend the full workshop session.

Feel free to download the Passion-Driven Statistics e-book for more information about the model! http://bit.ly/Passion-DrivenStatistics
