As a chemist and writer, Primo Levi suggests in concrete ways how molecules teach us about thinking and relationships. He intuits a potential for creative dialogue between literature and scientific research in certain practices and components of thinking — such as thinking with our hands (chiral thinking), detective methods and "making mistakes together.” We will explore these practices and components of thinking in Levi’s texts and in the experience of an experimental course – Primo Levi and Chemistry – as we build on Levi’s project of developing relations between literature and science.

Event organized by the Italian Program (Languages, Cultures and Literatures) and the Program in Interdisciplinary Humanities.

Free and Open to the Public
