Details

Students often leave our classrooms with the belief that they have a firm grasp of the material covered. This "illusion of fluency" may lead to a reduction in outside study time they need to be successful. Come learn about techniques that help and bounce ideas from other colleagues.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe the cognitive science behind the concept of fluency
  • Design ways to help students break down illusions of fluency
  • Implement techniques to check for fluency in and out of class

Facilitated by: Sandra Sgoutas-Emch, Professor in Psychological Sciences | Director, Center for Educational Excellence
