Details

In this public lecture, Dr. Harold Roth, Professor of Religious Studies and Director of the Contemplative Studies Initiative at Brown University, will discuss “no-person approaches” to Contemplative Studies. Going beyond the more familiar emphasis on first-, second- and third-person approaches, Professor Roth will explore contemplative practices and systems that emphasize emptiness and transpersonal ways of being and experiencing. This includes non-intentional and intuitive forms of cognition, or "don't-know mind" in traditional Zen Buddhist terms.
