During his teaching career he taught courses in animal behavior and learning, research methods, statistics, evolutionary psychology, and behavioral genetics. He also served as director and animal behaviorist at the California Wolf Center, where he was involved in research with, and management and breeding of, captive wolves, including the highly endangered Mexican Gray Wolf. Dr. Moriarty's research has included studies of predator defense behavior, irrelevant drive effects, partial reinforcement and reward contrast effects, and conditioned taste aversion.

About the Event:

Congratulate Dr. Moriarty on his accomplished career at USD, and network with current students and faculty in the department. The Psychological Sciences Department is excited to showcase all the recent changes in the department, and hear what their alumni have been doing since graduation!

Dr. Moriarty's keynote address, "Alice in Wonderland, Psychology in the Biological Sciences," will focus on the history of psychology at USD, the emergence of the Behavioral Neuroscience program, and more generally how the "standard social science model" of psychology has given way to a more inclusive, interdisciplinary, biologically based model.

Part of Dr. Moriarty's two-day celebration includes a Tour of Behavioral Neuroscience Research and Teaching Facilities. The department will be showcasing all the recent changes in the lab and teaching facilities and update attendees on the research being conducted.
