Entrepreneurship Awards & Competitions

A city bubbling with innovation and entrepreneurship.

San Diego is ranked as one of the top cities for tech startups, with booming and energizing technology clusters in software, robotics, medical devices, electronics and our blue economy. And through USD’s Engineering Entrepreneurship Program, the eTrack Initiative, startups and social enterprises flourish, emphasizing curiosity, connections and creating value to build a new world economy — one that not only creates jobs and builds wealth, but also solves pressing societal issues and improves lives.

USD Technology Track Awards

With generous gifts from entrepreneurial and technology leaders, the University of San Diego's Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering now offers two new Technology Track awards, designed to reward game-changing projects that embody technological innovation. Starting in 2020, these two Tech Track awards of $10,000 each will be included in USD's V2 Pitch Competition.

USD Entrepreneurship Competitions

USD offers many events throughout the year to fine-tune students' venture-building skills. We challenge students to invent the next big idea at our V2 Pitch Competition. We inspire the next generation of Changemakers at our Center for Peace and Commerce's Fowler Global Social Innovation Challenge. And we coach passionate innovators at our Legacy Entrepreneurship Conference.

A Hub of Innovation

Through these initiatives and more, we are engaging students beyond the silos of engineering, where external partners sustain our entrepreneurship program through deep, consistent engagement. We are an innovation hub, moving beyond traditional boundaries, into a mindset that breeds innovation — where anything is possible.
