USD School of Law Student Maddie Orcutt (3L) Receives 2020 Women of Impact Award

SAN DIEGO (March 16, 2021) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law student Maddie Orcutt (3L) was recently named a 2020 Women of Impact award recipient, given by the USD Women’s Commons. She, along with four other award winners, were honored in a virtual celebration on February 5. Orcutt was the only award recipient from the law school.

A former PRIDE Law president, Orcutt is dedicated to empowering members of the LGBTQIA+ community and improving the lives of those around her. She was nominated for the award due to her work with the law school’s Pride Law Name and Gender-Marker Change Clinic, which prepares legal documents for transgender individuals requesting the court to approve a change. Run in partnership with The San Diego LGBT Community Center in Hillcrest, the clinic has helped more than 500 people since it was founded in 2018.

The USD Women of Impact program acknowledges the hard work of students and employees by recognizing each honoree’s dedication to the USD Changemaker mission. For twenty-three years, the program has highlighted the efforts of women across the USD campus who have enriched the lives of friends, students, colleagues and the community.
