‘Stay-at-Home’ Order

Dear USD Campus Community:

This evening, California Governor Gavin Newsom ordered all individuals in the State of California to stay at home or at their place of residence, effective immediately. Click here for additional details related to this order.

As stated previously, we have already taken steps in this direction with our remote teaching transition and our remote work plans. As a reminder, this order does not affect our ability to keep our campus operations open and running through remote work and remote teaching.

Our current understanding of the Governor’s executive order is that the directives are similar to what was enacted in Northern California counties. Consistent with the specific details in these directives, education is considered an essential function. Our understanding is that faculty will continue to have the option to teach remotely from their homes or their campus offices and classrooms.

For Friday, March 20, we ask that employees continue to follow their respective work plans that were approved by their supervisors. More details will follow on Friday related to those who should report to work on campus for the following week.

These clearly are unprecedented times. Each one of us must do our part to follow the order for the safety and wellbeing of our families, friends and communities. Please visit our COVID-19 website for the latest developments.

Sincerely,

COVID-19 Action Team
