In the words of Mother Rosalie Hill, “Beauty will attract them, goodness will lead them but the truth will hold them.” Having completed our examination of the concept of beauty, we turn this semester to an investigation into “The Idea of Goodness”, approached from a range of perspectives and disciplines.

Discussion to be introduced by:

Brad Melekian, MFA, assistant professor of English

Jessica Patterson, PhD, associate professor of art history

Nick Riggle, PhD, assistant professor of philosophy

In Spring 2018, the Humanities Center began a major and ambitious exploration of the three underlying concepts that constituted the foundation of USD at its inception: beauty, goodness, and truth. The Idea of Goodness Series takes place on specific Tuesdays at 4pm.

This event is open to the public
