There have been over 700 confirmed cases of measles in 2019, the largest for any year since 2000, according to The New York Times. More than 360 of these cases have been in New York City alone, reigniting a local version of the national debate regarding the legality and ethicality of governments forcing vaccination in the name of greater public health. (Craig and Linda Barkacs are professors in the USD School of Business)
