Assistant Director, Media Relations

As assistant director of Media Relations, Daniel Telles helps promote the University of San Diego's mission and impact to the wider public through the media. He pitches stories to local and national media that feature faculty research, student success, special achievements and select events. A direct liaison to academic divisions and key university departments, Daniel can respond to media requests for information and connect journalists to professors to provide expert commentary.

Daniel produces multimedia and video stories that get shared across university channels, from social media to broadcast media. Additionally, he helps to track media hits and produce monthly and quarterly reports to show effectiveness of media outreach.

Daniel is also fluent in the technical and content sides of web and digital strategy. Prior to working in the Office of Media Relations, Daniel worked in the Digital Communications and Institutional Marketing department as web content strategist and developer.

Daniel graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2010 with a BA in English (writing concentration) and minors in Theology and Philosophy. He is currently attending USD's professional MBA program. Prior to joining USD in 2015, he worked in sales, marketing and web development at a software company in Bonsall, CA.
