Graduates receive a diploma case during the ceremony. The actual diploma is mailed to the address indicated by the student on his/her petition to graduate. Diplomas are mailed 6-8 weeks after the degree requirements have been met and processed. Diplomas are mailed over the summer for May graduates. For students who graduate in January, diplomas are mailed at the end of February.

Masters and Doctoral students who have any questions or concerns regarding their diploma may contact the Graduate Records Office at or call (619) 260-2217.

Career Development Center

The Career Development Center encourages all students and alumni to use its services. USD career counselors provide assistance in person, by email, and by phone about career decision-making, resume development, job search strategies, and graduate school planning. USD graduates have lifelong access to counselors and resources, including a careers website and other resources to connect students with employers.

Press Release

The Office of University Communications sends press releases to hometown newspapers on behalf of students who petition to graduate. There is no need for students to submit additional information. The releases are sent in late May and early June. If you have questions, please email or call 619-260-7460.
