Meet the Staff

The Writing Center is led by Professor of Practice and Writing Center Director Sara Hasselbach, PhD, and a team of undergraduate student leaders. The Writing Center's leadership team manages the center's appointment calendar, staffs the front desk, and provides training and mentorship to new and returning consultants.

All Writing Center consultants are USD undergraduates and come from a wide variety of academic disciplines. Consultants are nominated by faculty and selected by the coordinating staff, exhibiting both advanced writing skills and interpersonal awareness. Consultants also participate in ongoing training throughout their tenure at the Writing Center. Each consultant is equipped to work with any type of writing at any academic level, from first-year students drafting their first college papers to graduate students polishing doctoral theses.
