Clarence L. Steber Professorships

John Portman
Clarence L. Steber

The Steber Professorships in Theology and Religious Studies were established through the generosity of the late Clarence L. Steber, K.H.S., member of the board of trustees of the university, 1968-70. Providing a substantial grant in support of a faculty member's professional development, the Steber Professorships in Theology and Religious Studies are awarded on the basis of peer-reviewed project proposals. Yearly, a Steber Professor of Theology and Religious Studies is named and recognized by the president, the provost, the chair of the board of trustees, and the professor's fellow faculty during the university's Fall Convocation.
