Tutoring and Centers

Need a tutor in language and culture, chemistry, math or physics? Or would you like to help others and earn school credit by becoming a tutor? Here are a few opportunities to explore.

Bio Club at Alcala Bazaar

Tutoring for students enrolled in chemistry courses is available each semester. Tutors and schedules may change from semester to semester.

Hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30 – 8 p.m.

The Writing Center tutoring services are free and by appointment, with drop-ins accommodated if appointment slots are open. Tutoring sessions usually last 45 minutes to one hour. At this time we are unable to provide tutoring to online students. Note: The Writing Center is not open during finals, Intersession or Summer Session.

Hours: Monday - Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 7 p.m., Friday: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Logic Center was an informal, drop-in center for students who needed extra help in completing their assignments or preparing for their exams.

Tutoring is available each semester to USD students enrolled in lower-division language classes as well as upper-division conversation or composition courses.

The Mathematics Learning Center (MLC) is open and free to USD students on a walk-in basis. The MLC offers peer-to-peer tutorial services designed to facilitate the development of independent lifelong learning, and help students implement effective strategies for analytical thinking in their mathematics courses.

The MLC opens on September 16, 2019
