Dr. Rebekah Wanic graduated with honors with her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois and earned her Master’s and Ph.D. in Psychology from UCSD. Her areas of interest are applied social psychology and gender. The focus of her Master’s work was developing the subordination-reactivity hypothesis to help explain health disparities across genders. Her doctoral work was focused on exploring social comparison and body image, with the aim to identify cognitive strategies to reduce the negative impact of media exposure. She has spent the past several years supervising student research and teaching courses including Introductory and Social Psychology, Gender, Criminology, Psychology and the Law, Statistics, I/O Psychology and Research Methods at several of San Diego's colleges and universities.
