Play Review: 'Ado' a Comedy with a Wallop
San Diego Union-Tribune -- It may have a rep as an effervescent comedy, a crisp splash of Shakespeare champagne. But as staged to bracing effect at the Old Globe Theatre, “Much Ado About Nothing” is the kind of bubbly that keeps bopping you in the face with the cork.
Director Ron Daniels’ production for the Globe’s Summer Shakespeare Festival reveals, to borrow one character’s memorable phrase, a “February face” — an implicit, wintry chill that sometimes tempers the play’s laughs, sometimes sets them in bold relief. (Full Story)
