Chris Grant '94 Named New GM of Cleveland Cavaliers


Chris Grant, ’94 was appointed the new general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers after the previous GM, Danny Ferry resigned.  Grant worked as the Assistant GM under Ferry since joining the Cavaliers in July of 2005.  Prior to joining the franchise, Grant spent nine years with the Atlanta Hawks, working in a variety of roles including vice president of basketball operations and assistant manager.  In 2008 he was offered the GM position with the Hawks but opted to stay with the Cavaliers. 

Grant received his bachelor's in psychology from USD in 1994, and continued on to get his masters of education in 1996.  During his time at USD he played basketball for the Toreros under the coaching leadership of current Cavaliers assistant coach Hank Egan.  One of his teammates during this time was former Cavaliers coach Mike Brown.
