2014 Chamber Music Festivals

Directed by Dr. Angela Yeung and sponsored by the Greater San Diego Music Coterie, the Chamber Music Festivals at the University of San Diego have provided a unique opportunity for chamber-music making and public performance for musicians of all ages since 2006. Experienced chamber musicians enjoy the challenge of an intense coaching and performance schedule. Those with little or no chamber music experience appreciate the careful grouping of ensembles, selection of pieces, and guidance by experienced coaches. The gains from each festival surpass those of the chamber music experience alone: musical appetites, self-confidence, and spirit of teamwork are sparked, and lasting friendships are formed.

Each year the University of San Diego hosts a weekend chamber music festival in February – Winter Chamber Heat (WCH), and a day/evening chamber music festival at the end of June and beginning of July – Summer Festival. The best ensembles from both festivals are invited to perform at the Annual Festival Concert in February, a week before WCH.

Coaching sessions for both festivals are conducted by members of the San Diego Symphony and music faculty of the University of San Diego. Participants of advanced musical levels may perform along with the coaches at concerts.

The Chamber Music Festivals welcome individual participants and pre-formed groups. Each member of the pre-formed group must complete the application form separately. The Festivals are open for auditing. Those interested may contact Dr. Angela Yeung at ayeung@sandiego.edu.

Volunteering at and donations to the Festivals are most welcome. Donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law. Please contact Dr. Angela Yeung at ayeung@sandiego.edu.
