Recommendations
Do you need a letter of recommendation? Here is some advice:
- Give your writer at least two-weeks notice, preferably more. Give the faculty member a clear deadline.
- Visit the faculty member in person to explain why you need a letter and how you are a good candidate. Be sure to thank them for the work of writing you a recommendation.
- Provide the faculty member with your resume.
- Provide the faculty member with all necessary forms.
- Often it is a good idea to share your letter/application with the faculty person.
- If the letter is not electronically submitted, be sure to provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
- Follow up with a friendly email a day before to remind them of the deadline.
- Keep the faculty person posted if the letter results in success!
- Good luck!
