18th Annual Binational Communication Encuentro

March 6 - 8, 2014

Tijuana, Mexico

USD Communication Studies students will present and discuss their media and communication related research with students and faculty from other universities in Mexico and the U.S. The conference is open to Communication Studies and Visual Arts students, and any student may attend whether presenting or not. The approximate cost of attendance is $30. A fiesta will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at Rosarito Beach. Dr. Kristin Moran and Dr. Antonieta Mercado will be accompanying the USD contingent.

USD Students Presenting at the encuentro:

  • Jocelin de la Torre: Does Mental Health truly exist? The poisonous trio of media, racial profiling and pharmaceutical companies
  • Jennifer Godfrey: So Simple, Your Mother Could Do It: An Analysis of the Shift of Women’s Presence in the Public Sphere from the 1940’s through the 1950’s
