College of Arts and Sciences Lecturer Award for Exceptional Teaching

Application deadline is Spring 2020.

Adjunct faculty members who have taught at least 45 units in the College of Arts and Sciences may be nominated by their home department or by another College faculty member for the College of Arts and Sciences Lecturer Award for Exceptional Teaching. This award has been made possible by an anonymous faculty donation to honor the amazing contributions of adjunct faculty to the College of Arts and Sciences.

The recipient of the College of Arts and Sciences Lecturer Award for Exceptional Teaching will receive $500 and will be recognized at the College of Arts and Sciences End of the Year Reception.

How to Apply:

Please submit a one to two-page nomination letter that highlights the achievements and activities that exemplify the nominee’s exceptional teaching.

The nomination letter may include examples of ways in which the nominee:

  • Exemplifies a commitment to the values of a liberal arts education.
  • Inspires intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn;
  • Creates a learning environment that nurtures a diverse and inclusive community;
  • Stimulates learning and encourages worthwhile achievements and contributions of students;
  • Impacts students’ lives beyond the classroom and after graduation;
  • Motivates reflection, ethical conduct, compassionate service, personal responsibility, leadership, social responsibility and good citizenship;
  • Positively influences the way colleagues teach.

The Adjunct Faculty Committee will review the nominations and make a recommendation to the Dean.
