Showy Island Snapdragon (Gambelia speciosa, aka Galvezia speciosa)

Island Snapdragon is a somewhat vine-like perennial plant native to the Channel Islands of California and Guadalupe Island, Mexico. It has red snapdragon-like flowers, which bloom in the winter and spring. Hummingbirds are especially attracted to their flowers. Under the right conditions it can bloom almost year round. This shrub can get 3 feet tall and 9 feet wide. It is evergreen with bright green, elliptical, somewhat thick leaves. The red flowers bloom in the winter and spring.  It is considered rare.
