Chamber Music Ensembles Director
Angela Yeung, PhD, is the director of the University of San Diego Chamber Music Ensembles and the Annual Chamber Music Festival that is held in February (Winter Chamber Heat) and July (Summer Festival) on the USD campus. Director of the USD Symphony from 1996 to 2010, Dr. Yeung continues to conduct orchestras and choirs nationally and internationally. Currently she is Artistic Director of the Greater San Diego Music Coterie, under which she conducts the Greater San Diego Chamber Orchestra and Chorus as well as Coterie Celli. Her commitment to community service has led her to host many clinics for visiting school bands, choirs and orchestras, to conduct outreach performances with orchestra and chamber music ensembles, and to direct after-school music programs for elementary school children. She was the featured conductor for both the 2012 and 2013 StringFest of the Sweetwater School District.

Scholarly and Creative Work
As cellist and guest conductor Dr. Yeung has performed in major concert venues around the world, reaching audiences on most continents. Artistic Co-Director of Orvieto Musica, an international summer chamber music festival in Orvieto, Italy from 1994 to 2005, she has been the Artistic Director of the concert series Early Music at Saint Peter’s Church in New York City since 1993. She is a founding member of the National College Orchestra Directors Association and was President of the Western Division from 2007 to 2010.
As a scholar Yeung has given lectures and papers on various aspects of music theory and analysis, historical performance practice, and history of chamber music, in particular the early development of the piano trio. She has transcribed and orchestrated numerous works, among them arrangements of Chinese and Indonesian folk songs for a cappella choir and with accompaniment, and music for a new genre of chamber music for horn and cello with or without piano accompaniment.
Yeung was Director of the USD Symphony from 1996 to 2010 and has taught many music theory courses at USD. In addition to her current directorship of the chamber music ensembles, Yeung teaches individual conducting and cello lessons as well as the preceptorial first-year music theory course Fundamentals of Music Theory. She continues to offer invited guest lectures and seminars on a variety of music topics.
