W.I.T.S. Personal Training Certification Program


The Campus Recreation department, in collaboration with the World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.), is offering a Personal Trainer Certification Program designed to help you start a successful career as a trainer. Taught over a five-week period, the program covers key topics including biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, equipment usage and health assessment.

The 30-hour course will take place on campus with instructor Madel de Jesus, and consist of 15 hours of lecture and 15 hours of practical training. Lectures will take place in the SC108 classroom at the Sports Center, and practical training will take place at the Bosley Fitness Center.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the program, participants will achieve the ability to:

  • Understand and describe basic anatomy, kinesiology and exercise physiology
  • Assess an individual’s level of fitness using ACSM guidelines
  • Design and customize exercise programs
  • Demonstrate proper execution of resistance, cardio-respiratory and flexibility exercises
  • Identify and demonstrate at least one strength exercise for every major muscle group
  • Explain ACSM and AHA recommendations for cardiovascular exercise

Program Requirements

Refund Policy: A full refund may be issued if requested at least 30 days prior to the course start date. A 50% refund may be issued if requested at least 15 days prior to the course start date. No refunds will be issued within 14 days of the course start date.
