Hear about the direct experiences of contemporary fighters from the world of MMA (mixed martial arts), which includes boxing, muay Thai, wrestling and jiujitsu. The panel features professional UFC fighters discussing their experiences in and out of the cage and how their training and competition affects their intellectual, physical and spiritual lives.

The panelists will include:

1. Shannon Gugerty 
Shannon is a professional Mixed Martial Artist and San Diego native who has fought all over the world. In 2001, Shannon started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, which led to his transition into MMA. Once his career record hit 10-2, he moved on to sign with the UFC. Gugerty made his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut in 2008 against then undefeated Dale Hartt, where he won by submission in the first round.
After a successful career as a UFC fighter, the veteran turned his aspirations towards the teaching of the sport and became the director of the MMA and Jiu Jitsu program at The Boxing Club in 2012, where he now focuses his passion on coaching the next generation of professional fighters.
2. Sophia Nordenö 

Sophia Nordenö is orignally from Sweden and has been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well as submission wrestling for almost 14 years. She is a black belt under Alfredo Barum. She has competed many times in tournaments such as ADCC, Eddie Bravo invitational,  World Combat Games, and IBJJF. She has also done super fights in Subversive and Fight To Win. Her favorite submission is any type of leglock.
