The Alcalá Review Reviews Beauty

The Alcalá Review participated in the Humanities Center’s Idea of Beauty Series with “The Alcalá Review Reviews Beauty” on April 17, 2018, in the Humanities Center.  Discussion was introduced by Dr. Malachi Black and students from The Alcalá
.  The panel included McKenna Christian, Quinn Cain, and Bri Jurries.

The Alcalá Review is USD’s online literary journal, committed to fostering creative community by showcasing exceptional creative works by undergraduates and by hosting or participating in an array literary events through USD’s English Department.

The Idea of Beauty Series: In Spring 2018, the Humanities Center began a major and ambitious exploration of the three underlying concepts that constituted the foundation of USD at its inception: beauty, goodness, and truth. In the words of Mother Rosalie Hill, "Beauty will attract them, goodness will lead them, but the truth will hold them." With a semester of programming dedicated to each of these fundamental ideas, a series of events and discussions investigated the idea of beauty. This was approached from a number of perspectives and disciplines. As USD celebrates the Princeton Review award for the "Most Beautiful Campus" in the nation, this series is especially timely and inspiring.
