How to Declare Your Business Major

Your future starts here.

COVID-19 Impacts:

We are transitioning Declaration of Major sessions to a remote platform as a preventive measure to reduce risk related to the COVID-19 virus. We assure you that you will still be able to declare your major in the School of Business. We will continue to post updates on this site. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please visit the university’s COVID-19 website for the most current information for the USD community.

You have researched our program. Made your list of pros and cons. And maybe you polled your friends and family. Now you have decided you are ready to declare your major.

To declare your major for the first time at the University of San Diego School of Business, please follow these steps:

  1. Register for a virtual Declaration of Major session led by one of our academic advisors via Zoom. Please register by clicking on one of the links below. After registering, a Zoom link invitation will be sent via email one day before the session starts. Students may not attend a session without registering a minimum of two days in advance.

Tuesday, Apr. 14, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Apr. 15, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

Thursday, Apr. 16, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

During the session, you will learn more about the USD School of Business, course curriculum, majors offered, and resources available to you -- and you will officially sign your Declaration of Major form.

Please note: Students are required to attend one of these sessions to declare business as a major. If you have any questions, contact the USD School of Business Advising Office.

2. You will be assigned a USD School of Business Academic Advisor with whom you will be able to schedule an appointment. At that time, you will be officially enrolled in the USD School of Business.

3. Attend a Passport Program Orientation. All students who are declared in the USD School of Business need to attend a Passport Program Virtual Orientation Session preferably within 2 weeks of declaring their major, but at the latest by May 14th, 2020 (No Passport Orientations are held during Summer Session). A Passport Program hold will be placed on your account if this requirement is not completed by May 14th. Students are NOT permitted to attend a Passport Program Orientation without first attending a Declaration of Major session.

If you have questions about the Passport Program Orientation, please contact Isela Reyes, the passport program coordinator: ireyes@sandiego.edu.

All virtual Passport Orientation sessions will be hosted via Zoom on the following days/times:
