Sherman (Sherm) D. Harmer

President, Urban Housing Partners

Sherm is a founder of Urban Housing Partners Inc. (UHP), a 15-year-old development company focused on the planning, entitlement and construction of urban properties. UHP has been involved in downtown San Diego since 1998 and involved in 12 downtown projects. Sherm is a 48-year veteran of the homebuilding and real estate development industry. He served as chairman of the Downtown Residential Marketing Alliance and is currently chairman of the BIA’s urban council. Sherm formerly served as vice chairman of the Olson Company, which was selected “America’s Builder of the Year” in 2001 by Professional Builder magazine. He was previously president of the Irvine Company’s California Pacific Homes of San Diego, senior vice President of McKellar Communities and was the CEO for two Utah homebuilding companies. Sherm served 10 years as an elected member of the Utah House of Representatives and has been an adjunct professor for the Master of Science in Real Estate program at the University of San Diego.
