The Summer Institute on Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a week-long program on global competitiveness, emphasizing innovation and entrepreneurship. Hosted by the Ahlers Center for International Business at the University of San Diego, this program gives undergraduate and graduate business students around the world the chance to participate in a cross-cultural learning opportunity featuring USD professors and experts in their field.

Summer Institute FAQ

Institute Format
The Summer Institute on Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a one-week-long program held on the University of San Diego campus. The tentative schedule is from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a lunch break each day. Activities include classroom seminars, a company visit, and a networking lunch. 
We will provide all instructional materials in a flash drive. Pre-reading assignments will be shared prior to the program start date. Participants will need a laptop or tablet with a USB drive. Internet access will be available at USD. Participants will receive a certificate of completion on the last day of the program. USD does not provide academic credit for the Summer Institute.

Who should apply?
The Summer Institute is designed for business students currently enrolled in an institution of higher education. It is an open-enrollment program with a track for graduate business students and a track for undergraduate business students. We may ask for verification of enrollment (i.e., contact information of your academic advisor, transcript) during the application process.

Can I receive academic credit from USD?
Please note that participants will not be enrolled as students at USD nor will any academic credit from USD be granted for participating in the Summer Institute. The goal of this program is to enhance cross-cultural understanding and academic knowledge in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation. Please note that USD does not issue student visas for this program.
Registration Information

Interest Form
The first step is to complete the online interest form which will be reviewed to ensure you meet the basic qualifications of this program. Once reviewed, we will email you an invitation to register for the program. We have a rolling application and acceptance policy. You must complete the interest form to receive the registration link by email.
Registration and Payment
If you are invited to participate in the program, full program payment of US$550 is due by one month before the program start date. Remember, you must submit an interest form in order to receive a registration link and payment information.

Acceptance Notification
We have a rolling acceptance policy and will review interest forms until the registration deadline. The email with the registration and payment link will be sent as the interest forms are received and reviewed. After you register, you will receive information regarding housing recommendations, program calendar, and pre-reading assignments. 
Last Date to Cancel for 50 Percent Refund
Should you need to cancel your registration, a 50 percent refund will be available if cancellation is received in writing within two weeks of the program start date. Cancellations made past this date will not qualify for a refund.
