The University of San Diego’s Trans-Border Institute (TBI) and Ahlers Center will be hosting a conference to discuss the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Friday’s event is a special conference focusing on issues that specifically pertain to the United States and Mexico, stemming from the 1994 signing of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The conference aims to focus on the opportunities that exist to further strengthen U.S. and Mexico labor, business and environmental relations.

Participants include Herminio Blanco Mendoza, former Mexican Secretary of Commerce and Industrial Development and chief negotiator for NAFTA; Andres Garza Herrara, President of Chamber Industry for Nuevo Leon, Mexico; Barbara Wright, CFO of Taylor Guitars; and Kevin Gallagher, NAFTA researcher and Professor of International Relations at Boston University.

Topics at the conference will focus on new business opportunities, sustainable, equitable wealth creation in and beyond the NAFTA region, new managerial talent and leadership styles to succeed in NAFTA, and opportunities to further synergize strengths, resources and vision to increase competiveness within the region and beyond.
