"I remember meeting Sara at SEARCH - she was such a bright, intelligent, and generous person then and she still is today. Thank you for showing to me what it takes to become an inspiring leader: compassion, dedication, and fearlessness. I've said it to you a lot, but you are such an inspiration Sara! I can't wait to see what you do out there in the world." - Frankie

"When I look back at my college experience, I know that many of my fondest memories will be from the Women's Center. It has truly become a second home and the sisterhood I feel is so real and strong. The Center continues to both support and challenge me. The women I have met through my involvement in the Center inspire me each and everyday with their passion and concern for others. The Women's Center provides a place of unconditional love where I can truly be myself and the people here bring out the best in me. In particular, the Center has taught me the importance and power of using one's voice. I cannot imagine my senior year without the WC! Although I am open to whatever comes next, it is comforting to know that the relationships I have made within the WC will last much longer than my time at USD. WOMEN ROCK!" - Sara

"Sunny has been a piece of sunshine in my life since I met her. She is an inspiration, so full of passion and compassion. I cannot imagine
USD without her smiling face but I am so excited to see all of the
wonderful things that she will do in her future. I am so thankful and
so blessed to know her and to have her as a part of my life and as a
" - Josie

"Thank you to the Women's Center for empowering me. Through the help of the entire staff I was able to gain my self confidence that I had lost. They supported me and helped me understand the importance of believing in ourselves. Thank you for always providing that space for us to share our stories and opinions as well as to help us grow to be proud of our gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion and every other identity marker we may have." - Sunny

"I am so sad to see (one of the few) similar minds leave the WC. Your efficiency and organizational skills in running the office on top of your commitment to making a difference give me strength as I strive to approach life in a similar way. Regardless of what you might think, I know you will find a way to live out your values in the corporate world, as you will be apart of the change you wish to see in that world as well as the world as a whole." - Shannon

"Wow! I can hardly believe that four years at the Women's Center has already come and gone. It has without a doubt been one of the most influential experiences during my time at USD. Four years ago, I walked into the Women's Center entirely unaware of the amazing community, held in this space, that would one day allow me to blossom into the woman I am today. While I have learned tangible working skills in programming, budgeting, and leadership, this opportunity has been so much more than just a job. The events have inspired me to be a stronger person and to recognize the power my voice holds in advocating social justice. The people have been like a family to me- supporting me and challenging me through the peaks and valleys of life. And the Empower Retreat has exemplified the importance of being vulnerable and sharing with others in order to form true community. I am truly blessed to call the USD Women's Center home, and I look forward to visiting again soon after graduation!" - Alyssa

Mackenzie1---------- Mackenzie Maurer ----------

"Going into SAAW I was really nervous but she was always there to help me. She always ensured I didn't feel overwhelmed even though she took on more than I did. More importantly, she displayed such a passion for spreading awareness about sexual assault with an obvious compassion for survivors. She is one of the most thoughtful and dedicated individuals I have met and I wish  she didn't have to leave. I can only hope to do half as well as she has in her position next year as the Sexual Assault Awareness Coordinator." - Court

"To everyone I have met through the Dub C:

Thank you

Thank you for inviting me to go on the EMPOWER Retreat

Thank you for helping me to recognize and understand my multiple identities

Thank you for accepting me exactly the way I am

Thank you for the laughter and the smiles, the tears and the hugs, the important talks and silly conversations, for holding my hand while I work through difficult times or tough decisions

Thank you for challenging me; for opening my eyes, my mind and my heart to new perspectives

Thank you for being your authentic selves

Thank you for creating a space I look forward to coming to – a place I know I can find a friend no matter the day or time

Thank you for loving me

Thank you for your voice

Thank you for being my sisters and showing me how powerful the bonds of sisterhood are

I will never be able to thank you enough"

All my love, support and prayers,

"To the delightful Ali,

I remember the first time I met you at EMPOWER, and within seconds we hit it off. It may have been because you were rockin that extremely cool, fuzzy hat, but I think it was mostly because I was opened up to such a caring, genuine, motivating young woman. Your energy and warm heart extend out to everyone no matter what the situation, and you welcome and receive people without any hesitation. You encourage, empower and motivate with your words, and are always around to listen or have a good laugh. Thank you Ali, for inspiring me. I am so positive you will be doing great things in the future, and cannot wait to see that vibrant energy to touch others like it has touched us here at the WC. Love you MUJER!" - Ella

"I want to thank the Women's Center and everyone who has been involved in the WC for the most amazing college experience I could have ever asked for. I have been able to truly understand what it means to be an empowered woman and feminist leader. I have learned more in the WC than I have in a classroom setting because of the  wonderful people I have gotten to know. I came into USD a Biology major and Pre-med student with no idea how my future would play out. Now I know that I want to incorporate my experience in the WC with my love of science and people to form a more meaningful future. The Women's Center has helped me find my voice as a woman, feminist, student, and survivor and I will always be grateful for my time here." - Ali

Good Luck Erin!

Good Luck as you begin an exciting chapter in your life! Remember that we are supporting you and Michael all the way and we cannot wait to see BLC :)
