If you want to see the progress of your upload, you can use the Opera web browser.
- Right-click Opera’s toolbar and choose “Customize”.
- Change “Progress Bar”, from “Simple” to “Pop-up at bottom”.
- When you upload a file, the progress will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
Why don’t we display a custom progress bar in all browsers?
We may do so in the future, but because of the way web pages work it isn’t easy to do so reliably and in a manner that doesn’t slow down your upload. In order to display a custom progress bar, we need to have a script that continually runs asking the server “how much of this file has uploaded so far?” All while your client is trying to upload a huge media file and possibly trying to make other connections as well.
By using a browser that displays a progress meter on its own, you can avoid all of that; the browser knows exactly how much of the file it has sent to the server.
