Web Connection Settings

The following are quick guidelines for connecting to either your personal or departmental Web site via Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Contribute, FileZilla (Windows), or Fugu (Macintosh).

Note that you must be on campus to access the departmental web server. For off-campus usage, you will need to have a USD VPN account. To apply for a VPN account, submit the New User Registration form [pdf 99 KB] to Maher Hall, Room 170.

Personal Web Sites

Access: Secure FTP
Server: usdhome.sandiego.edu:42670
Host Directory: public_html/
Login: your MySanDiego username
Password: your MySanDiego password

Your URL for your Web site will be http://home.sandiego.edu/~username online. If you visit the Account Command Center and log in using your MySanDiego account username and password, you will see the full URL there.

Departmental Web Sites

Access: Secure FTP
Server: files.sandiego.edu
Host Directory: /Users/yourwebaccount/Sites/yourwebsite/
Login: your web account username
Password: your web account password

If you do not know your Web account username or password, please contact Jerry Stratton. Please note, information for a Web account will only be provided to that Web account's authorized contact(s). If you do not know the contacts for the Web account, please send the Web site URL to Jerry Stratton.

Student Organization Sites

Student organization sites are generally stored on a different server than either personal or departmental sites. The following are the connection settings:

Access: Secure FTP
Server: itsweb.sandiego.edu:42670
Host Directory: leave blank
Login: your itsweb username
Password: your itsweb password

If you do not know your Web account username or password, please e-mail itsweb@sandiego.edu with a request to change the connection information. Please note that the request must come from a permanent-level employee representing the organization or department.
