Disable Java security warnings

Last updated 6/18/2010

Note: If you have newer versions of the Java 6 applet (like version 6_20) and Internet Explorer on a PC, by following the steps below, you can disable the "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern. Block potentiall unsafe components from being run? (recommended)" message you will get each time you enter a WebCT course or Wimba room.

  1. Enter your WebCT course or Wimba room. Find the white square Java icon in the Taskbar on the lower-right part of your screen.

  2. Right-click it and click "Open Control Panel."

  3. Once the Control Panel opens, click the "Advanced" tab.

  4. Click the plus sign next to "Security"

  5. Click the plus sign next to "Mixed code"

  6. Choose the "Enable - hide warning and run with protections" option and click "OK." You will not see the warning messages anymore.
