Courses Requiring Approval Forms
NOTE:
- No more than 10 total Clinical/Internship credits earned over
all combined semesters may count towards your degree
- No more than 6 total Journal, Moot Court, Mock Trial, and
Independant Study credits earned over all combined semesters
may count towards your degree
- No more than 6 total non-law credits earned over all combined
semesters may count towards your degree
Clinic Registration
All students who wish to enroll a Legal Clinic must follow the
procedures outlined in the clinic
information. Students are limited to taking only one clinic
or judicial/agency internship at a time. This allows us to offer
the program to as many students as possible.
The Records Office cannot put you into a clinical class without
a signed authorization form from the appropriate clinic professor.

to Apply for a Clinic
Center for Public Interest Law/Children's Advocacy Institute
Registration
Those students who wish to enroll in any of the following clinics
must follow the procedures outlined by the Center
for Public Interest Law/Children's
Advocacy Institute:
- Public Interest Law and Practice,
- Public Interest Clinic
- Energy Law and Policy Clinic
- Child Advocacy Clinic
Judicial Internship Registration
Those students who wish to enroll in Judicial Internship must
submit a signed permission slip from Professor Horton with their
registration forms.
Moot Court and Mock Trial Registration
Those students who wish to enroll for Moot Court or Mock Trial
credit must submit a signed permission slip from Professor Devitt
or Professor Wharton respectively with their registration forms.
LL.M. Tax Courses
Advanced Tax Courses
J.D. students who wish to enroll in advanced tax courses from
the LL.M. in Taxation curriculum must secure the approval of the
Graduate Programs Office. The Records Office cannot register you
for an advanced tax course unless you have a signed approval form.
Instructions are provided on the form. Academic advising is available
from the Graduate Programs office (Warren Hall 207) for all J.D.
students interested in taking advanced tax courses.
Law Journal Registration
Those students who wish to enroll for credit for law journals must submit to the Records Office a signed permission
slip from the full-time professor awarding the academic credit.
Forms are also available in the Records Office.
- The deadline for receipt of the approved forms is the 10th
day of the semester.
- Credit for either a comment or editing (Law Review only) is
considered a yearlong endeavor. You can divide up the hours
of credit between fall and spring semesters only, as indicated
on the permission form. Signing up for fall will automatically
sign you up for spring.
- It is essential to complete all work, including rewrites,
in time to be graded in Spring. Failure to do so will result
in your retroactive withdrawal from the law journal unit(s).
If this happens, you will not be eligible for a refund for those
credits, and you may face consequences in terms of the accumulation
of academic credits toward graduation.
Supervised Independent Research Registration
Those students who wish to enroll for Supervised Independent
Research credit must submit to the Records Office a signed permission
slip from the full-time professor awarding the academic credit.
Forms are available in the Records Office.
- Approved forms are due in the Records Office by the 10th day
of the semester.
- Please note that your professor must turn in certification
of your completed work NO LATER THAN THE DATE FINAL EXAM GRADES
ARE DUE.
- It is essential to complete all work, including rewrites,
sufficiently early to allow for evaluation of your work. Failure
to do so will result in your retroactive withdrawal from the
unit(s). If this happens, you will not be eligible for a refund
for those credits, and you may face consequences in terms of
the accumulation of academic credits toward graduation.
