After graduating from Harvard Law School, Professor Laura S. Adams clerked for Judge Michael B. Mukasey on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and then served as an attorney-adviser at the U.S. Department of State, where she specialized in human rights and refugee issues. She practiced civil litigation and taught law in San Diego prior to joining the USD law faculty in 2003. Adams teaches and writes in the areas of international law, immigration and refugee law, human rights, and family law. She also teaches contracts. Adams's publications include "Divergence and the Dynamic Relationship Between Domestic Immigration Law and International Human Rights," Emory Law Journal.
