Alan Alvord

Adjunct Professor of Law

Professor Alan Alvord is an administrative law judge with the California Office of Administrative Hearings. He was previously the director of the University of San Diego's Administrative Hearing Program. He was in private practice as an attorney and dispute resolution professional in the areas of business and commercial litigation, employment law, creditors' remedies, personal injury defense and appellate practice. Alvord has held numerous positions in the San Diego community; he has been a judge pro tem for small claims court, a superior court arbitrator, a mediator for the Center for Municipal Dispute Resolution, a parking appeals hearing officer, a County Bar Association attorney fee arbitrator, a Police Department licensing appeals hearing officer and a neighborhood code compliance hearing officer. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law and California Western School of Law. He teaches Negotiation, Mediation and supervises students in agency internships.
