Reciprocity with Other Law Schools' Career Services Offices
The Career Services Office maintains reciprocity agreements with many other law schools throughout the U.S. Each school has limitations on its services. Reciprocity allows USD School of Law graduates to use career services offices at participating law schools according to the policies of those schools. If you are interested in requesting reciprocity, please contact Graylin Clavell in the Career Services Office at (619) 260-4529 or visit our section on reciprocity.
Law Alumni Association
The Law Alumni Association is a great resource to network and keep in touch with fellow law alumni.
Alumni Job Newsletter (AJN)
The Alumni Job Newsletter contains listings for positions in San Diego, other areas of California, and across the U.S. and internationally. It is now only available in an online web-based format! As do most law schools around the country, USD posts alumni job opportunities on a web-based job database called “Symplicity.” The Symplicity system allows alumni to access and view job opportunities at any time and from any location with Internet access!
To view the AJN on Symplicity, you will need to sign up for a password to log on. This is a fairly simple process. Simply click on the link below which contains instructions which will seamlessly take you through this process. These instructions also describe how to navigate the site. However, if you have any problems whatsoever, we encourage you to call the Law Career Services Office at 619-260-4529 and a staff member will walk you through the process.
Please note that the old e-mail version of the AJN is no longer available. To see job listings for attorneys, you must be signed up for the new Symplicity system. Using the Symplicity system, you may check for jobs at any time.
Alumni Resume Service
For alumni who would like assistance in writing or updating their resume and/or cover letter, Career Services offers resume and cover letter review service. If you wish to use this service, forward a copy of your resume and/or cover letter with a short note outlining your career goals to Career Services by mail, fax or e-mail. Please allow 48 hours for review of your materials.
Lexis and Westlaw Access For Graduates
As a continuing service to law school graduates, Westlaw and Lexis have extended free access to their career libraries to assist graduates with their job search. The Westlaw and Lexis career libraries allow graduates to research law firms, government agencies, public interest organizations and corporations online to do a targeted mailing of resumes. To access these career libraries, you must use a password or ID provided by Westlaw or Lexis. Call or e-mail Career Services to receive the necessary password or ID number.
Law School Job Newsletter Exchange
The Career Services Office exchanges job newsletters with over 90 other law schools in California and across the United States. If you are thinking of relocating, consider consulting the relevant newsletters for openings in those areas. The newsletters can be viewed at the Intercollegiate Job Bank.
