Reunion Giving
Celebrated every five years, class reunions help alumni foster connections with classmates and the law school. As a part of the celebration, alumni are encouraged to commemorate their class and support the law school by making a class reunion gift.
A class gift drive is held throughout the year leading up to the class reunion celebration during Law Alumni Weekend (October 3-5, 2008). The drive includes committee meetings and peer-to-peer solicitations.
Help your class reach their goal this year!
What is a reunion gift?
All gifts and pledges made during the fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) are counted toward your class gift totals each year. However, during a reunion year special emphasis is placed on building the level of support and participation from the class in recognition of the milestone a reunion year represents. Gifts and pledges include those made either to the Law Annual Fund (unrestricted giving) or to specific endowments, projects or programs. Planned or deferred gifts through instruments such as charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities are also included in class participation and giving totals.
Some class reunion committees might set specific goals for their reunion year giving, such as 100% participation from the class. They may also decide upon a specific purpose for their class gift, like the creation and naming of an endowed scholarship or professorship. For example, the law school class of 1975 established the “Class of '75 Professorship” in 2000.
