Military Justice in a Time of War
How much constitutional protection do we give our servicemen?
Eight Camp Pendleton marines currently sit in the brig awaiting trial for the murder of an Iraqi citizen and potentially dozens more in the Haditha investigation could soon be in the same boat. Join us to talk about the concepts of military justice and constitutional law that are inherent to these cases. The panel will explore military justice as it compares to that of a civilian courtroom. This forum is your chance to see an accused soldier's defense attorney square off with a Navy JAG prosecutor. The deputy attorney general, who is a former JAG member, will also be on hand to discuss the many differences between trying a military and a civil/criminal case.
