5:30 p.m.
A reception will follow in the Founders Foyer
On October 3, 2006, members of the San Diego area bench and bar and the University of San Diego School of Law community will gather in USD's Founders Chapel to participate in the Red Mass — a liturgy held to mark the opening of the judicial year.
The Red Mass dates back to the 13th century and is said to have started in France. Its name refers to the red color of the judges' robes and priests' vestments in attendance, representing the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. The mass is held to ask for divine guidance and assistance for the legal profession in performing its responsibilities. Legal professionals and law students of all religious traditions are welcome to attend.
A response is requested to help obtain an accurate catering count.
